  1. Wash and quarter apples. Add in cider and cook till soft then run through a food mill. Drain off juice using a jelly bag or possibly colander lined with cheesecloth. Put together apple pulp, sugar and spices. Bake in a 300 degree oven till thick. Test by placing a spoonful on a plate and if no juice forms around the pulp it is ready.Pour while hot into jars and process 15 min in a boiling water bath or possibly freeze. Other types of fruit may be substituted for the apples such as plums, peaches, pears or possibly combinations of fruit.
