For October Tammie and I are going to base our recipes around cider and soup – autumn favorites. Why don’t you buy a gallon of cider at your favorite farmers’ market or roadside stand and try a few of our samplings this month?

As a lover of grits my first recipe is simple and seasoned for fall. Hope you enjoy!

  1. In a medium saucepan over high heat combine the cider, grits, cinnamon and salt.
  2. Stir as it comes to a boil and then stir very frequently.
  3. When the cider is almost absorbed add the apples and keep stirring.
  4. Cook until the apples are mostly softened.
  5. Garnish with a sprinkling of brown sugar and cinnamon.
