  1. Heat shortening in frying pan. Brown chicken on all sides. Arrange in casserole dish. Sprinkle with apple, celery and onion.Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Pour off all but 1 tbsp shortening from frying pan. Stir in flour, gradually stir in lowfat sour cream and wine. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly till slightly thickened. Season with salt and pepper. Pour over chicken. Bake 1 1/2 hrs. (Excellent with pheasant, too.)
