- 6 tbs mashed butternut squash

.%20%20The%20barn%20door%20leeds%20to%20a%20flight%20of%20decrepit%20stairs.%20%20Both%20the%20door%20and%20the%20stairs%20will%20be%20replaced,%20but%20kept%20as%20an%20emergency%20exit%20(or%20trysting%20exit,%20perhaps).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20scaffolding%20is%20on%20the%20'landing'.%20%20The%20door%20on%20the%20far%20side%20of%20the%20beam%20on%20the%20left%20goes%20into%20a%20spare%20bedroom.%20%20The%20sheet-rock%20framed%20doorway%20straight%20on%20goes%20into%20the%20smallest%20of%20the%20spare%20bedrooms,%20and%20it%20will%20have%20the%20barn%20door%20as%20part%20of%20the%20decor%20on%20the%20far%20wall.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGot%20that?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20the%20right%20side%20of%20that%20hallway,%20same%20view,%20is%20the%20door%20to%20the%20second%20bathroom%20(below%20the%20missing%20sheet%20rock).%20%20The%20ladder%20is%20leaning%20on%20the%20wall%20of%20the%20master%20bathroom.%20We%20hope%20to%20get%20at%20the%20second%20bathroom%20in%20the%20spring,%20when%20it%20warms%20up%20again.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20you%20can%20see,%20the%20sheet%20rock%20is%20almost%20done%20for%20the%20part%20we%20want%20to%20heat%20for%20winter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStanding%20at%20the%20barn%20door,%20this%20is%20the%20spare%20bedroom.%20%20As%20you%20can%20also%20see,%20no%20work%20has%20been%20done%20on%20this%20ceiling%20-%20next%20summer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStill%20standing%20at%20the%20barn%20door,%20this%20is%20the%20view%20down%20the%20hall%20to%20the%20master%20bedroom%20door.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20two%20bathrooms%20are%20on%20the%20left%20and%20the%20landing%20is%20around%20the%20corner%20on%20the%20right...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh,%20there%20it%20is...%20the%20landing,%20as%20seen%20from%20the%20bedroom%20door:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20pink%20arrow%20points%20to%20what%20will%20be%20a%20linen%20closet.%20%20We%20still%20have%20blue%20plastic%20over%20the%20opening%20to%20the%20proper%20stairs,%20and%20will%20until%20the%20sheet%20rock%20is%20finished%20and%20the%20doors%20installed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMon%20mari%20uses%20the%20decrepit%20stairs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20now,%20is%20that%20all%20clear%20as%20mud?%20%20It's%20getting%20more%20challenging%20taking%20photos%20of%20it%20all%20-%20%20darn%20walls%20keep%20getting%20in%20the%20way....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhilst%20he%20was%20busy%20doing%20that%20I%20was%20busy%20doing%20Christmas:%20decorating,%20baking,%20planning%20and%20such.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20morning%20I%20tackled%20the%20annual%20Christmas%20Letter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20didn't%20have%20anything%20to%20say.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20didn't%20win%20the%20Nobel%20Prize%20for%20Physics%20(although%20rumor%20has%20it%20I%20was%20very%20close).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMon%20mari%20didn't%20scale%20Everest%20(although%20he%20dreamt%20about%20it%20one%20night).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENeither%20dog%20saved%20the%20life%20of%20a%20famous%20person%20or%20uncovered%20a%20lost%20Rembrandt%20whilst%20burying%20a%20bone%20(although%20they%20tried%20their%20best%20to%20dig%20up%20the%20latter).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20simply%20didn't%20have%20anything%20to%20say%20that%20was%20worthy%20of%20being%20in%20a%20Christmas%20Letter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20that's%20what%20I%20said.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%20it%20really%20big%20type%20and%20it%20almost%20filled%20half%20of%20a%20page.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'll%20be%20banned%20from%20the%20Christmas%20Letter%20Elite%20Club%20after%20this%20one,%20I'm%20afraid.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20then%20I'll%20be%20banned%20from%20the%20very%20chi-chi,%20very%20Prestigious%20Complicated%20Recipe%20Club%20after%20they%20see%20this%20post.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20still%20have%20a%20lot%20of%20butternut%20squash%20in%20the%20barn.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20tired%20of%20the%20frying,%20roasting,%20baking%20and%20tossing%20with%20Balsamic%20vinegar%20/%20Truffle%20oil%20Reduction%20options%20and%20decided%20just%20to%20mash%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20peeled%20the%20squash,%20cut%20it%20into%20chunks%20and%20simmered%20it%20in%20chicken%20stock%20for%20about%2020%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20drained%20it,%20added%20a%20glug%20of%20sherry%20and%20mashed%20the%20lot.%20%20Topped%20with%20butter%20and%20pepper,%20it%20was%20simple%20and%20delicious.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20some%20left%20over.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpoon%20the%20squash%20into%20the%20center%20of%20the%20pastry%20squares.%20%20Put%20a%20slice%20of%20chorizo%20on%20each%20corner%20and%20fold%20pastry%20over.%20%20Put%20more%20chorizo%20wherever.%20%20Bake%20until%20pastry%20is%20puffed%20and%20golden%20-%20it%20actually%20got%20very%20orange%20from%20the%20chorizo.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhip%20the%20Cr%C3%A8me%20Fraiche.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20serve,%20top%20each%20pastry%20with%20whipped%20cr%C3%A8me%20fraiche,%20the%20remaining%20on%20the%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20heard%20that%20one%20could%20whip%20cr%C3%A8me%20fraiche%20(one%20cannot%20whip%20sour%20cream%20or%20yogurt),%20but%20I'd%20never%20tried%20it.%20%20It%20whipped%20up%20in%20no%20time%20just%20using%20a%20hand%20whisk%20and%20the%20slightly%20tart%20flavor%20was%20perfect%20with%20a%2
