- TIP: Apples can be baked a day ahead and reheated when serving.
- Prepare apples. Make some slits in each apple. Place apples in lightly greased custard c.. Dust with sugar and cinnamon. Stir together sugar, flour and baking pwdr. Fold in egg and melted butter. Spoon batter over apples, dividing proportionately. Sprinkle with walnuts and orange rind. Bake at 375 degrees till apples are soft and batter is golden, 25 to 35 min. Serve apples slightly hot with orange ice cream, or possibly a dollop of whipping cream if you like. Makes 4 servings.
