  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.In a 1 cup measure, put cocoa pwdr; add in a small amount of hot water and stir till cocoa dissolves. Fill remainder of measuring cup with lowfat milk to bring the measurement up to 1 cup total.
  2. Put together flour, salt and baking soda, mixing well. Set aside.
  3. Beat shortening or possibly butter and sugar, add in egg yolk, beating for one minute. Stir in vanilla and remaining ingredients.
  4. Mix for one minute. Turn batter into a buttered brownie pan that has been lightly dusted with cocoa (shake out any excess cocoa).
  5. Bake for about 40 min or possibly till cake tests done.
