.%20Looking%20back,%20it%20just%20means%20I%20have%20more%20people%20loving%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHow%20a%20person%20parent%20is%20also%20a%20reflection%20on%20how%20you%20are%20parented.%20For%20some%20people,%20it%20is%20not%20doing%20what%20your%20parents%20have%20done.%20For%20others,%20it%20may%20come%20as%20a%20surprise%20that%20you%20suddenly%20sound%20like%20your%20own%20mother%20and%20you%20actually%20believe%20in%20it.%20I%20work%20in%20the%20field%20of%20families%20and%20this%20topic%20has%20been%20a%20hot%20topic%20in%20supervision%20for%20years.%20For%20myself,%20I%20believe%20I'm%20a%20bit%20of%20both.%20While%20I%20love%20spending%20time%20with%20my%20grandmother%20and%20having%20a%20special%20bond%20with%20her,%20I%20do%20wish%20my%20parents%20were%20around%20just%20a%20tad%20more%20(I%20do%20understand%20why%20they%20had%20to%20do%20what%20they%20had%20to%20do).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhich%20is%20why%20it%20is%20even%20more%20special%20that%20my%20family%20made%20this%20big%2012%20weeks%20trip%20to%20me%20with%20us.%20It%20is%20a%20big%20sacrifice%20my%20family%20made-%20not%20just%20financially,%20but%20they%20had%20to%20step%20out%20of%20their%20comfort%20zone%20to%20join%20us.%20It%20simply%20made%20me%20realise%20what%20made%20me..%20me...%20The%20%22togetherness%22,%20loyalty%20and%20more%20importantly%20values.%20I%20am%20raised%20to%20believe%20in%20the%20value%20of%20being%20a%20%22family%22%20and%20family%20supports%20each%20other%20unconditionally.%20It%20made%20sense%20why%20confinement%20is%20so%20important%20now.%20It's%20not%20just%20about%20the%20mother's%20health,%20but%20it%20embraces%20family%20helping%20family.%20Perhaps%20over%20the%20past%2013ish%20years%20being%20in%20Australia%20has%20diluted%20this%20in%20me%20just%20a%20tad.%20I%20was%20getting%20used%20to%20being%20independent%20and%20being%20an%20individual.%20This%2012%20weeks%20has%20certainly%20reunited%20me%20to%20the%20feelings%20of%20belongings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20sent%20my%20family%20to%20the%20airport%20this%20morning.%20There%20were%20no%20tears.%20Just%20a%20lot%20of%20goodbyes%20and%20see%20you%20again%20in%20three%20months.%20Returning%20home%20however,%20was%20a%20different%20story.%20My%20house%20seems%20too%20quiet%20now.%20Tomorrow%20morning,%20my%20mum%20will%20not%20be%20in%20the%20kitchen%20with%20her%20bright%20smile%20asking%20if%20Asher%20slept%20well.%20%20During%20Asher's%20play%20time,%20my%20dad%20won't%20be%20here%20to%20read%20him%20%22real%20estate%20news%22%20nor%20will%20my%20grandmother%20be%20teasing%20him%20with%20her%20black%20gloves.%20Usually%20there%20will%20be%203%20loving%20adults%20taking%20turns%20cuddling%20him,%20but%20from%20now%20on,%20it%20would%20be%20me%20and%20hubby%20mainly.%20I%20feel%20a%20sense%20of%20sadness%20but%20also%20readiness-%20I'm%20physically%20healed%20now%20and%20have%20settled%20into%20motherhood.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFrom%20the%20bottom%20of%20my%20heart,%20I%20really%20would%20like%20to%20raise%20Asher%20to%20know%20his%20roots.%20I%20want%20him%20to%20know%20how%20much%20joy%20he%20has%20brought%20my%20family,%20but%20also%20I%20hope%20that%20the%20values%20of%20loyalty,%20togetherness%20and%20hardworking%20goes%20through.%20I%20hope%20to%20raise%20him%20to%20know%20what%20%22family%22%20means.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAt%20least%20we%20have%20technology%20to%20aid%20us.%20With%20FaceTime,%20Asher%20will%20get%20to%20see%20my%20parents%20and%20grandmother%20alot%20more%20than%20what%20we%20could%2014%20years%20ago.%20The%20past%2012%20weeks%20has%20humbled%20me%20and%20certainly%20made%20me%20crave%20family%20even%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAsher%20is%20now%2011%20weeks%20ago%20and%20how%20much%20he%20has%20grown.%20He%20laughs%20and%20giggle,%20he%20raise%20his%20head%20up%20during%20tummy%20time%20and%20loves%20his%20baths%20now.%20I%20cannot%20believe%20that%20just%20a%20mere%2011%20weeks%20ago,%20he%20was%20a%20newborn%20and%20now..%20he%20is%20an%20infant.%20I'm%20adjusting%20much%20better%20to%20motherhood%20and%20has%20a%20flexible%20routine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20guess%20I%20want%20to%20share%20a%20recipe%20that%20brings%20people%20together%20today.%20A%20Lemon%20and%20Pistachio%20cake.%20I%20made%20this%20cake%20before%20Asher%20was%20born%20and%20love%20the%20simplicity%20of%20this.%20It%20uses%20a%20mixture%20of%20pistachios%20and%20almond%20meal-%20which%20gives%20it%20a%20nutty%20texture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPre%20heat%20oven%20to%20160C.%20Line%20loaf%20time%20with%20baking%20paper%20hanging%20over%20the%20sides.%20Beat%20butter,%20sugar,%20rind%20and%20vanilla%20in%20a%20mixer%20for%2010%20minutes%20or%20till%20pale%20and%20creamy.%20Scrape%20sides%20and%20beat%20in%20eggs%20one%20by%20one.%20Fold%20through%20both%20nut%20meals.%20Spoon%20mixture%20into%20tin%20and%20bake%20for%201%20hour%20till%20a%20skewer%20comes%20out%20with%20only%20a%20few%20crumbs%20on%20it.%20Cool.%20Drizzle%20with%20warm%20honey%20to%20serve.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
