Receta Favorite Thin Crust Pizza Supreme

Homemade pizza for us means thin crust, preferably whole grain, a sparse smear of pizza sauce plus meats, cheese and veggie toppings. This is the recipe we’ve made for eons, developed over time to our taste by trial and error. The crust is thin yet firm enough to hold both the toppings and its shape without flopping when eaten. We use an Airbake perforated pizza pan (photo shown) to insure light browning of bottom crust but a regular pizza pan will give good results also. Deals and coupons from the pizza giants are easy to come by, but for us, none match the custom taste of hand-made from our own kitchen!

  1. Make dough either by bread machine on dough setting, or by conventional yeast bread making method, as follows:
  2. Measure flour, yeast, sugar, and salt into mixing bowl. Stir well together. Add water and oil. Beat well until it forms into a ball of dough. On lightly floured bread board, knead dough several minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with clean towel and rest a few minutes while preparing toppings.
  3. Preheat oven to 450 to 475 degrees F. Spray pizza pan lightly with vegetable spray.
  4. Using additional flour as needed to prevent sticking, roll dough out to fit prepared pan. Ease dough into pan to fit, cutting away excess if needed (make some bread sticks with them!)
  5. Spread pizza sauce on top of dough evenly up to edges. Top with desired array of cheeses, meats and vegetables.
  6. Bake 18-20 minutes until bottom of crust is lightly browned and toppings set.
  7. Serves 4 (2 slices each)
