%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAbout%20six%20months%20ago%20Liv%20discovered%20Roasted%20Kale,%20or%20Kale%20chips.%20%20As%20she%20has%20always%20been%20somewhat%20averse%20to%20anything%20green%20(with%20the%20exception%20of%20my%20beloved%20avocado),%20her%20discovery%20gave%20us%20reason%20to%20celebrate.%20%20The%20fact%20that%20even%20asks%20for%20roasted%20kale%20simply%20makes%20my%20heart%20sing!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHowever...%20enter%20my%20oven.%20%20Said%20oven,%20some%2017%20years%20old%20and%20not%20of%20high%20quality%20to%20begin%20with,%20has%20taken%20it%20upon%20itself%20to%20randomly%20beep%20an%20overheating%20error%20code%20even%20when%20it's%20off,%20having%20us%20flip%20the%20breaker%20to%20make%20it%20stop.%20%20With%20the%20little%20breaker%20switch%20not%20looking%20so%20sturdy%20itself,%20I've%20simply%20not%20been%20using%20my%20oven.%20%20But%20things%20like%20kale%20chip%20requests%20have%20me%20searching%20new%20cooking%20methods%20and%20my%20trusty%20grill%20(it%20never%20lets%20me%20down)%20solved%20this%20problem.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOiling%20our%20organic%20kale%20with%20avocado%20oil%20(I've%20been%20using%20one%20from%20Chosen%20Foods%20that%20I%20found%20at%20Costco)%20and%20crushed%20garlic,%20I%20placed%20my%20baking%20sheet%20onto%20the%20grill%20and%20before%20long%20my%20neighbor%20actually%20popped%20his%20head%20over%20the%20fence%20to%20ask%20what%20was%20smelling%20so%20good.%20%20Leaving%20one%20side%20of%20the%20grill%20off%20and%20the%20other%20side%20on%20high,%20the%20kale%20was%20nice%20and%20toasty%20at%20about%2012%20minutes,%20and%20a%20dusting%20of%20freshly%20grated%20Parmesan%20Cheese%20brought%20a%20delightful%20saltiness%20that%20had%20us%20both%20impatient%20for%20the%20kale%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20whether%20you%20are%20avoiding%20heating%20that%20oven%20on%20a%20hot%20day%20or%20dealing%20with%20an%20oven%20on%20its%20last%20leg%20like%20me,%20the%20grill%20does%20a%20fabulous%20job.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGarlic%20Parmesan%20Kale%20Chips%20(on%20the%20grill)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELightly%20toasted%20to%20a%20delightful%20crunch,%20nutritious%20kale%20brings%20a%20tasty%20alternative%20to%20not%20so%20healthy%20potato%20chips.%20%20%20The%20garlic%20and%20parmesan%20will%20have%20you%20reaching%20for%20seconds%20and%20probably%20thirds.%20%20A%20versatile%20recipe,%20adapt%20the%20ingredient%20amounts%20to%20what%20you%20have%20on%20hand.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20gas%20grill%20with%20both%20burners%20on%20medium-high%20(or%20alternatively%20preheat%20your%20oven%20to%20375%C2%BA).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20kale%20onto%20a%20baking%20sheet.%20%20Measure%20oil%20into%20a%20small%20bowl%20and%20press%20the%20garlic%20into%20the%20oil%20with%20a%20garlic%20press.%20%20Stir,%20and%20add%20a%20dash%20of%20salt%20if%20desired%20(we%20find%20we%20don't%20need%20it,%20but%20we%20tend%20to%20go%20light%20on%20salt).%20%20Drizzle%20the%20oil%20over%20the%20kale,%20and%20using%20your%20hands%20toss%20the%20kale%20until%20fully%20coated%20with%20the%20oil%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20baking%20sheet%20on%20one%20side%20of%20the%20grill,%20turning%20the%20burner%20directly%20below%20the%20kale%20off.%20%20Keep%20the%20other%20burner%20at%20a%20medium-high%20to%20high%20level.%20%20(Alternatively,%20place%20your%20baking%20sheet%20in%20the%20oven).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESet%20the%20timer%20for%206%20minutes.%20%20At%20the%206%20minute%20point,%20give%20the%20kale%20a%20good%20stir.%20%20For%20my%20kale,%20I%20set%20the%20timer%20for%20anther%206%20minutes,%20but%20if%20your%20kale%20appears%20to%20be%20cooking%20quickly,%20check%20more%20frequently.%20%20Stir%20again%20at%20the%20next%206%20minute%20interval%20and%20either%20remove%20from%20the%20grill%20(or%20oven)%20or%20allow%20to%20roast%20a%20few%20minutes%20longer.%20%20In%20the%20oven%20we%20usually%20need%20about%202%20more%20minutes,%20however%20my%20grill%20is%20not%20so%20precise.%20%20On%20some%20occasions%20the%20kale%20is%20done%20at%20this%20point%20while%20on%20others%20it%20needs%20up%20to%205%20more%20minutes.%20%20Be%20sure%20to%20check%20frequently%20and%20remove%20when%20kale%20is%20emerald%20green,%20dried%20and%20nicely%20crisped%20(not%20burned).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20still%20hot,%20shred%20parmesan%20onto%20the%20kale.%20%20Also%20sprinkle%20with%20pepper%20if%20desired.%20%20Enjoy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELiv%20Life%20Note:%20%20Be%20sure%20to%20dry%20your%20kale%20thoroughly%20or%20the%20kale%20will%20steam%20rather%20than%20crisp%20as%20it%20cooks.%20%20Not%20bad,%20just%20not%20what%20we%20are%20looking%20for%20here.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
