Receta Half Moon Meat Pies

Ingredientes
- 1 1/2 c. grnd round
- 1 whl onion minced
- 1 c. mushrooms
- 3 Tbsp. margarine solid
- 1 1/2 c. lowfat sour cream
- 1 dsh nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 x egg

- This is an extremely easy and versatile meat pie. Use the hamburger meat in this recipe or possibly use COOKED minced beef roast or possibly COOKED and minced chicken in filling. Salt is to be divided between pastry and filling.
- 1. Heat margarine in skillet. Saute/fry the mushrooms, onions and lean grnd round till lightly browned. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 c. lowfat sour cream, 1/2 tsp. salt, black pepper and dash of nutmeg or possibly allspice if you like. Set aside.
- 2. Mix the flour, remaining salt and the sugar in a bowl. Cut the shortening in till mix is crumbly. Mix egg yolk with remaining lowfat sour cream; add in to flour mix and mix well.
- 3. Roll dough on floured surface and cut into 18 circles. Use a lowfat sour cream carton for circle size guide or possibly any other cutter which will give you about 18 circles. Place 1 heaping tsp. filling in center of each circle. Fold over and seal edges, pressing with a fork dipped in flour.
- Mix egg whites with 1 Tbsp. water; brush over pies. Add in a few sprinkles of sesame seed or possibly celery seed at this point if you like.
- 4. Bake in a preheated 400-degree oven for 15-20 min or possibly till golden. Serve immediately. When rewarming these, do so slowly so lowfat sour cream won't curdle. Best warmed in oven.
- NOTES : Make these ahead of time to have on hand for sandwiches, school lunches or possibly to take to work. They can be frzn for short periods of time; thaw partially and reheat slowly in oven.
