- For the Caramel Glaze:
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- To Finish:
- 4 Tbsp Toffee Bits

;%20sure,%20all%20those%20name%20brand%20stores%20are%20close%20enough%20in%20either%20direction.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20I%20do%20miss%20are%20some%20of%20the%20smaller%20mom%20and%20pop%20shops%20I%20had%20come%20to%20know.%20Chopped%20Salad%20and%20my%20shoe%20guy%20and%20yes,%20the%20doughnut%20shop%20near%20my%20home%20that%20was%20a%20huge%20favorite;%20discovered%2020%20years%20ago%20when%20we%20were%20moving%20in!%20Not%20a%20place%20I%20frequented%20much%20but%20it%20was%20there%20and%20it%20was%20open%20at%206am%20if%20the%20urge%20hit%20me.%20I%20remember%20many%20a%20Saturday%20or%20Sunday%20morning%20when%20Abbie%20would%20make%20the%20drive%20with%20me;%20a%20doughnut%20for%20me%20and%20a%20doughnut%20hole%20for%20her.%20Gee,%20just%20thinking%20about%20her;%20almost%20a%20year%20and%20how%20much%20I%20still%20miss%20that%20sweet%20dog.%20I%20know%20she%20would%20love%20these!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDown%20South?%20A%20doughnut%20craving%20might%20be%20satisfied%20with%20a%20trip%20to%20the%20grocery%20store%20but%20those%20doughnuts%20are%20not%20the%20same%20so%20while%20I%20may%20not%20have%20gone%20much,%20now%20I%20crave%20them.%20And%20luckily%20I%20also%20think%20I%E2%80%99ve%20found%20my%20fix.%20While%20I%20admittedly%20love%20a%20light%20and%20fluffy%20yeasty%20glazed%20doughnut,%20I%E2%80%99ve%20always%20enjoyed%20the%20denser%20cake%20variety%20too%20and%20now%20I%20can%20make%20those%20and%20bake%20them%20and%20fiddle%20with%20flavors%20to%20my%20hearts%20desire.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWithout%20a%20doubt%20the%20newfangled%20doughnut%20baking%20pans%20make%20this%20work%20easy.%20I%20ordered%20mine%20online%20from%20Amazon%20(Prime%20is%20addictive!)%20but%20they%E2%80%99re%20everywhere%20so%20if%20the%20spirit%20moves%20you%20too%20finding%20the%20pans%20should%20not%20stop%20you.%20I%20used%20a%20piping%20bag%20to%20get%20the%20dough%20into%20the%20pan%20easily;%20if%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20one%20of%20those,%20simply%20fill%20a%20Ziploc%20bag%20with%20dough%20and%20snip%20a%20corner%20about%203/4%20of%20an%20inch%20across%20and%20you%E2%80%99ll%20have%20a%20homemade%20version.%20The%20dough%20is%20simply%20mixed%20in%20a%20bowl%20so%20prep%20is%20pretty%20quick%20and%20you%20can%20have%20doughnuts%20prepped%20and%20baked%20and%20on%20the%20table%20in%2025%20minutes%20or%20less!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20saw%20Denise%20at%20Chez%20Us%20post%20about%20some%20chocolate%20doughnuts%20she%20had%20made%20that%20she%20loved%20so%20I%20started%20there%20and%20was%20off%20to%20the%20races.%20Forgoing%20the%20sprinkles,%20for%20me%20first%20out%20of%20the%20shoot%20was%20a%20creation%20that%20mimics%20my%20favorite%20flavor%20combination;%20chocolate%20and%20toffee,%20i.e.%20a%20Heath%20Bar%20Doughnut.%20Tell%20me;%20why%20do%20we%20relegate%20these%20only%20to%20morning?%20I%20took%20some%20to%20a%20friend%20the%20other%20day,%20they%20asked%20me%20to%20stay%20for%20dinner%20and%20they%20were%20the%20perfect%20size%20for%20dessert%E2%80%A6so%20go%20for%20something%20a%20bit%20decadent%20and%20dig%20into%20dessert!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20are%20so%20simple;%20you%20really%20need%20to%20get%20one%20(or%20more)%20of%20these%20pans%20if%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20one%20already%20and%20get%20going%20on%20your%20own.%20Next%20up?%20I%20also%20made%20French%20Toast%20Doughnuts%20with%20Bacon;%20a%20vanilla%20and%20cinnamon%20doughnut%20with%20a%20maple%20syrup%20glaze%20and%20bacon%20bits%20on%20top.%20My%20friend%20Cher%20could%20not%20choose%E2%80%A6she%20loved%20them%20both!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBarbYields%206-8%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeath%20Bar%20Baked%20Doughnuts%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E10%20minPrep%20Time%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E12%20minCook%20Time%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E22%20minTotal%20Time%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESave%20Recipe%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Doughnuts:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInstructions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20Make%20the%20Doughnuts:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20325F%20degrees%20and%20spray%20doughnut%20pan%20with%20cooking%20spray.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl,%20mix%20flour,%20cocoa,%20sugar,%20baking%20powder%20and%20salt.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl%20combine%20buttermilk,%20yogurt,%20egg,%20vanilla%20and%20melted%20butter.%20Whisk%20or%20stir%20to%20combine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlowly%20add%20the%20wet%20ingredients%20to%20the%20dry%20ingredients.%20Stir%20until%20just%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20a%20piping%20bag%20or%20a%20Ziploc%20bag%20with%20the%20corner%20cut%20off,%20pipe%20the%20batter%20into%20the%20prepared%20pan%20making%20sure%20each%20form%20is%20only%202/3%20full.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%2010-12%20minutes%20(should%20spring%20back%20when%20touched).%20Remove%20from%20oven%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%205%20minutes%20before%20removing%20from%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20Make%20the%20Glaze:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20all%20glaze%20ingredients%20except%20sugar%20in%20a%20medium%20saucepan%20over%20medium%20heat.%20Whisk%20until%20it%20starts%20to%20bubble%20and%20cook%20for%20
