,%20should%20publish%20a%20cookbook%20for%20kids,%20since%20she%20grew%20up%20with%20the%20fine%20cuisine%20of%20her%20father%20and%20now%20cooks%20most%20nights%20for%20her%20own%20family.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20book%20was%20designed%20for%20the%20foodie%20chile%20and%20in%20a%20way%20which%20is%20sure%20to%20inspire%20children%20to%20want%20to%20get%20in%20the%20kitchen%20and%20cook%20and%20we%20all%20know%20that%20a%20way%20to%20get%20children%20to%20eat%20healthier%20and%20to%20eat%20a%20more%20varied%20diet%20is%20to%20get%20them%20in%20the%20kitchen%20cooking.%20%20Kids%20LOVE%20to%20cook%20what%20they%20eat!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20a%20keen%20artist%20myself,%20and%20a%20writer%20of%20my%20own%20small%20illustrated%20cookbooklets,%20I%20really%20enjoyed%20the%20illustrations%20done%20by%20Jacques%20Pepin%20himself.%20%20They%20are%20bright%20and%20colourful%20and%20quite%20entertaining.%20%20The%20recipes%20range%20from%20uncomplicated%20to%20somewhat%20complicated,%20%20with%20recipes%20for%20everything%20from%20croque%20monsieur%20to%20roasted%20cauliflower%20to%20apple%20tarts%20with%20almond%20frangipane.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20is%20a%20note%20to%20each%20the%20child%20and%20the%20parent%20to%20begin%20with,%20followed%20by%20four%20chapters%20.%20.%20.%20%20To%20Start%20(appetizers%20and%20beginnings),%20To%20Continue%20(main%20courses),%20On%20the%20Side%20(delicious%20side%20dishes)%20and%20To%20Finish%20(as%20you%20would%20expect%20some%20tasty%20desserts).%20%20Also%20included%20are%20a%20range%20of%20tasty%20menus%20using%20the%20recipes%20from%20the%20book.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEverything%20is%20in%20both%20English%20and%20French,%20which%20may%20even%20inspire%20your%20children%20to%20learn%20a%20second%20language.%20%20I%20find%20it%20quite%20charming%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20are%20also%20little%20tips%20interspersed%20throughout%20in%20colourful%20little%20boxes%20.%20.%20.%20%20ie.%20%22Everything%20you%20cut,%20dice,%20slice,%20or%20chop%20is%20going%20to%20be%20eaten%20by%20someone,%20so%20take%20care%20and%20do%20it%20well.%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20love%20the%20idea%20of%20families%20cooking%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20once%20again,%20the%20illustrations%20truly%20are%20delightful.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20always%20like%20to%20try%20at%20least%20one%20recipe%20to%20show%20you%20from%20the%20cookbooks%20I%20review%20and%20so%20this%20time%20I%20chose%20Gougeres.%20%20%20Gougeres%20are%20a%20delicious%20cheese%20puff%20type%20of%20appetizer,%20which%20is%20composed%20of%20choux%20paste,%20which%20can%20be%20somewhat%20complicated%20to%20cook.%20%20%20The%20instructions%20were%20quite%20easy%20to%20follow%20however%20and%20I%20think%20you%20will%20agree%20that%20my%20Gougeres%20turned%20out%20just%20lovely!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELittle%20airy%20puffs%20of%20deliciousness.%20%20From%20the%20book,%20Kids%20Cook%20French%20by%20Claudine%20Pepin.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eadd%20the%20flour,%20salt%20and%20pepper%20all%20at%20once,%20stirring%20in%20thoroughly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20will%20make%20a%20very%20sticky%20ball%20of%20dough.%20%20%20Cook%20on%20medium%20heat,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Estirring%20with%20a%20wooden%20spoon%20for%20about%203%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPut%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edough%20into%20the%20food%20processor.%20%20%20Using%20the%20pulse%20setting,%20add%20the%20eggs,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eone%20at%20a%20time.%20%20%20Add%20the%20cheese,%20mustard%20and%20cayenne%20and%20blend%20until%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ejust%20incorporated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20a%20piping%20bag%20or%20using%20two%20spoons,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emake%20balls%20of%20about%201%20TBS%20of%20dough,%203/4%20inch%20in%20diameter%20on%20the%20buttered%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecookie%20sheet.%20%20Don't%20place%20too%20close%20together%20as%20the%20dough%20will%20roughly%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Etriple%20in%20size.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20at%20200*C/400*F/%20gas%20mark%206%20for%2010%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eminutes,%20rotating%20the%20tray%20if%20necessary.%20%20%20Turn%20the%20oven%20temperature%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edown%20to%20150*C/300*F/%20gas%20mark%203%20and%20bake%20for%20an%20additional%2015%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGougeres%20should%20be%20brown%20and%20firm%20on%20the%20outside%20and%20light%20and%20airy%20on%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethe%20inside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20haven't%20already%20gotten%20a%20gift%20for%20the%20special%20Father%20in%20your%20life%20for%20Father's%20Day%20on%20Sunday,%20I%20think%20this%20would%20be%20a%20fabulous%20gift.%20%20%20Nothing%20like%20getting%20Dad%20and%20the%20children%20into%20the%20kitchen%20for%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20family%20bonding%20over%20some%20cookery%20and%20good%20food!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAll%20in%20all%20I%20think%20this%20is%20a%20purely%20delightful%20book,%20for%20parent%20and%20child%20alike.%20%20%20It's%20just%20complicated%20enough%20to%20make%20it%20interesting%20to%20the%20older%20child%20and%20adult,%20but%20not%20so%20complicated%20that%20it%20can't%20be%20understood%20by%20a%20younger%20child%20with%20supervision!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKids%20Cook%20French%3C/p
