- 1. Preparation:
- - Clean and slice the mushrooms.
- - Finely chop the onion and green chili.
- - Puree the tomatoes.
- - Gather all the spices and other ingredients.
- 2. Cooking:
- - Heat 2 tablespoons of oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat.
- - Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- - Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- - Add 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste and the chopped green chili. Sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw smell goes away.
- 3. Making the Masala:
- - Add the pureed tomatoes to the pan and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- - Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon red chili powder, 1 teaspoon coriander powder, and 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- 4. Cooking the Mushrooms:
- - Add the sliced mushrooms to the masala. Stir well to coat the mushrooms with the masala.
- - Add salt to taste and 1/2 cup of water. Mix well.
- - Cover the pan and let it cook on medium heat for about 10-12 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and cooked through.

- - If using fresh cream, add 1/4 cup of cream to the pan and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
