,%20and%20rubbing%206%20turkeys;%20boiling%2010%20pounds%20of%20ham%20in%20cola;%20purchasing%20all%20the%20ingredients%20for%20muffaletta%20pasta%20salad;%20having%20Pat%20O'Brien's%20Hurricane%20Mix%20shipped%20to%20the%20house.%20You%20know%20the%20drill.%20Oh,%20wait,%20you%20don't?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20post-blizzard%20view%20from%20our%20porch...not%20good%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20party%20has%20been%20happening%20since%202003.%20So%20we%20were%20rarin'%20to%20go%20for%20the%2010th%20anniversary%20Mardi%20Gras%20Madness.%2087%20people%20responded%20%22YES,%22%20and%20we%20were%20ready.%20Then%20came%20Nemo.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurkey%20set-up.%20That's%20Amy's%20car%20behind%20it.%20Yup.%20It%20was%20that%20bad.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENemo%20dumped%20nearly%203%20feet%20of%20snow%20on%20us%20the-day-before-into-the-day-of%20the%20party.%20When,%20at%20noon%20on%20Saturday,%20the%20governor%20declared%20that%20ALL%20roads%20were%20closed%20to%20traffic,%20we%20postponed%20to%20the%20next%20day.%20Surely%20that%20would%20be%20plenty%20of%20time%20for%20people%20to%20dig%20out,%20for%20roads%20to%20be%20plowed,%20for%20power%20to%20be%20restored?%20Maybe%20not%20so%20much.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChris%20digs%20out%20our%20back%20deck%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESunday%20morning,%20the%20Krewe%20was%20intact,%20shoveling,%20snowblowing,%20and%20helping%20us%20set%20up%20for%20who%20knows%20how%20many%20guests.%20Every%20year%20we%20rely%20on%20our%20Krewe%20to%20help%20us%20set%20up,%20clean%20up,%20whatever,%20and%20this%20year,%20even%20more%20so.%20We%20even%20had%20the%20neighborhood%20kids%20(8%20and%203%201/2%20year%20olds)%20helping%20out.%20%20Super%20special%20thanks%20to%20G,%20S,%20B,%20D,%20J,%20N,%20K,%20W,%20B%20and%20especially,%20L%20for%20all%20you%20did.%20We%20couldn't%20have%20done%20it%20without%20ya'll,%20as%20usual!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAt%203%201/2,%20our%20youngest%20Krewe%20member%20ever!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBy%2012:45%20we%20had%203%20guests%20at%20the%20house%20(including%20a%20strange%20bearded%20man%20-%20pictured%20below)%20and%20things%20looked%20somewhat%20dim.%20Over%20the%20next%20several%20hours,%20however,%20the%20regulars%20rallied.%20We%20ended%20up%20with%20about%2040%20people,%20all%20of%20whom%20brought%20wonderful%20dishes%20to%20add%20to%20the%20fried%20turkey,%20cola%20ham,%20and%20muffaletta%20pasta%20party.%20Hurricanes%20were%20plentiful,%20though%20some%20people%20thought%20they%20should%20be%20called%20%22blizzards%22%20this%20once.%20Awesome%20pastry%20chef%20C%20brought%20a%20king%20cake%20worthy%20of%20the%20best%20Big%20Easy%20bakery.%20There%20was%20shrimp%20dip,%20shrimp%20and%20grits,%20drunken%20andouille%20pigs%20in%20a%20blanket,%20%20Mardi%20Gras%20meringues,%20spanokopita,%20B's%20best%20chocolate%20chip%20cookies,%20Mardi%20Gras%20cupcakes,%20and%20so%20much%20more.%20B%20even%20sent%20her%20amazing%20quiche%20for%20us%20to%20enjoy%20the%20next%20morning.%20She%20is%20the%20sweetest%20thing!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%22Bearded%20Man%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAround%205,%20a%20bunch%20of%20us%20teachers%20got%20text%20messages%20saying%20schools%20and%20other%20%22non-essential%20personnel%22%20were%20not%20to%20report%20to%20work%20on%20Monday.%20This%20brought%20cheers%20and%20a%20round%20of%20shots%20for%20those%20of%20us%20who%20are%20proud%20to%20be%20%22non-essential.%22%20We%20ate,%20drank,%20visited,%20and%20celebrated%20until%20around%2010,%20when%20the%20party%20wound%20down.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECupcakes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMardi%20Gras%20Meringues%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBarb's%20Best%20Cookies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESuffice%20it%20to%20say,%20not%20even%2034%20inches%20of%20Winter%20Storm%20Nemo%20can%20stop%20Mardi%20Gras!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELaissez%20les%20bon%20temp%20rouler!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMorning-After%20Quiche%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
