Receta Pepperpot Soup and Plait Bread
Ingredientes
- 2 lbs chuck roast, cut into 2-inch cubes
- 1 lb oxtails
- 2 tablespoons canola oil, more if needed
- 2 cups chopped yellow onion
- 3 large garlic cloves, minced
- 1 -3 wiri wiri peppers (if you can find them) or 1-3 habaneros, depending on desired heat
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
- ¾ cup casareep
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 5 cups water, more if needed
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 pieces orange peel
- 3 whole cloves (stick them into the orange peel to make them easy to fish out before serving)
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

- 1 large loaf
- 1 cup warm water (around 110 degrees)
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 3 cups all purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- ¼ cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted and allowed to cool
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
