- 1/2 cup almond slices

- 1/2 cup butter, chilled
- 1 egg yolk, beaten

- 5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and diced
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- apricot preserves
- 1 tube marzipan
- Heat apricot preserves. (I ended up using about half of a 23 oz. jar.)
