Ingredientes
- APPLE CAKE
- 4 cup of coarse, chopped apples (any baking apple works)
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup oil
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup chopped nuts ( I always use pecans)

,%20and%20I%20always%20look%20forward%20to%20making%20it-%20and%20eating%20it!%20As%20I%20was%20eating%20my%20first%20piece%20of%20this%20luscious%20cake,%20I%20began%20wondering%20about%20the%20history%20of%20apples%20in%20America.%20Why?%20I%20don't%20know.%20I%20mean,%20I%20remember%20reading%20about%20Johnny%20Appleseed%20in%20school,%20but%20was%20there%20more?%20So%20I%20did%20a%20quick%20google%20search%20and%20found%20an%20interesting%20article%20at%20What's%20Cooking%20America,%20called,%20%22History%20and%20Legends%20of%20Apples%22,written%20by%20Linda%20Stradley.%20She%20has%20done%20some%20research%20on%20this%20delicious%20fruit%20which%20was%20so%20interesting%20to%20read.%20Actually,%20the%20first%20apple%20seeds%20to%20arrive%20in%20America%20were%20in%20the%2017th%20century!%20One%20of%20the%20first%20instances%20was%20when%20William%20Blackstone%20arrived%20in%20Massachusetts%20from%20Europe%20in%201623.%20He%20carried%20a%20bag%20of%20apple%20seeds%20with%20him%20and%20planted%20an%20orchard%20on%20Beacon%20hill%20in%20Boston,%20among%20other%20places.%20The%20early%20settlers%20even%20had%20to%20import%20honey%20bees!%20Anyway,%20by%201640%20nearly%20all%20landowners%20had%20planted%20apple%20trees.%20According%20to%20her%20article,%20there%20are%20over%207000%20varieties%20of%20apples%20in%20the%20U.S.!%20Amazing!%20If%20you%20like%20history,%20check%20out%20this%20site.%20Now,%20let's%20get%20to%20this%20delicious%20recipe%20so%20you%20can%20make%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl,%20mix%20the%20apples%20and%20sugar%20together.%20In%20a%20separate%20bowl,%20mix%20the%20flour,%20baking%20soda,%20salt,%20cinnamon%20and%20nuts%20together.%20I%20know%20this%20sounds%20strange,%20but%20trust%20me.%20I've%20been%20making%20this%20for%20years%20and%20this%20is%20the%20easiest%20way.%20Stir%20the%20apples;%20the%20sugar%20will%20be%20liquefying%20by%20now.%20To%20the%20apples%20and%20sugar,%20add%20the%20eggs,%20oil%20and%20vanilla%20and%20mix%20well.%20This%20is%20a%20very%20thick%20dough%20that%20is%20loaded%20with%20apples.%20If%20you%20noticed,%20there%20isn't%20a%20lot%20of%20liquid%20in%20this%20cake.%20Most%20of%20the%20moistness%20comes%20from%20the%20apples.%20Spoon%20batter%20into%20a%20greased%20and%20floured%209x13%20inch%20pan.%20Place%20in%20a%20preheated%20350%20degree%20oven%20and%20bake%20for%20about%201%20hour.%20Test%20with%20a%20toothpick%20for%20doneness.%20Cool%20completely%20before%20serving.%20This%20is%20best%20made%20early%20in%20the%20day%20you%20are%20planning%20on%20serving%20it.%20This%20cake%20needs%20a%20few%20hours%20to%20develop%20its%20moistness.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20original%20recipe%20called%20for%202%20tablespoons%20of%20vanilla!%20As%20you%20noticed,%20I've%20cut%20it%20down%20to%202%20tsp.%20which%20is%20enough.%20The%20day%20of%20baking,%20the%20cake%20will%20be%20crusty%20on%20top,%20but%20as%20the%20day%20wears%20on%20the%20cake%20develops%20its%20moistness%20from%20the%20apples.%20Each%20day,%20this%20Apple%20Cake%20gets%20more%20moist.%20This%20is%20more%20a%20snack%20cake,%20but%20I%20like%20to%20make%20Caramel%20Sauce%20to%20drizzle%20over%20the%20top%20to%20dress%20it%20up%20some.%20Now%20that%20is%20a%20decadent%20touch!%20I%20guess%20you%20can%20tell%20from%20the%20pictures%20that%20I%20got%20carried%20away%20with%20the%20caramel.%20But%20it%20was%20sooo%20good!%20I'll%20give%20you%20the%20Caramel%20Sauce%20recipe%20my%20next%20post.%20Have%20a%20great%20weekend!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
