%20and%20used%20a%20small%20round%20tip%20to%20pipe%20the%20pastry%20in%20the%20holes.%20We%20dipped%20the%20eclairs%20in%20chocolate,%20and%20sprinkled%20the%20puffs%20with%20icing%20sugar.%20These%20were%20fun,%20easy,%20and%20yummy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20half%20the%20sugar%20in%20a%20pot%20with%20the%20milk%20and%20vanilla%20and%20bring%20to%20a%20boil.%20Whisk%20the%20egg%20yolks%20in%20a%20bowl%20and%20gradually%20add%20the%20other%20half%20of%20sugar.%20Whisk%20in%20the%20cornstarch%20to%20combine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20the%20milk%20comes%20to%20a%20boil,%20add%20it%20to%20the%20egg%20mixture%20little%20by%20little%20and%20whisk.%20Add%20the%20mixture%20back%20to%20the%20pot,%20whisking%20continuously%20until%20boiling.%20Allow%20to%20boil%20for%20a%20minute%20or%20two.%20Remove%20from%20the%20heat%20and%20pour%20into%20a%20clean%20bowl.%20Stir%20in%20the%20butter%20little%20by%20little%20until%20melted.%20Do%20not%20overmix.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECover%20by%20placing%20plastic%20wrap%20right%20on%20the%20surface%20of%20the%20custard%20so%20no%20skin%20develops.%20Chill%20on%20an%20ice%20bath.%20Remove%20the%20vanilla%20bean%20if%20you%20used%20one.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToday%20we%20also%20iced%20our%20%E2%80%98birthday%20cake%E2%80%99,%20which%20is%20a%20classic%20white%20genoise%20cake%20with%20a%20beautiful%20Italian%20buttercream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20probably%20my%20favourite%20thing%20we%20have%20made%20so%20far,%20are%20these%20croissants.%20It%20was%20really%20neat%20to%20see%20how%20croissants%20are%20made%20from%20scratch.%20They%20came%20out%20flaky%20and%20crispy%20on%20the%20outside,%20with%20a%20beautiful%20soft,%20buttery%20inside.%20With%20a%20dab%20of%20orange%20marmalade,%20these%20were%20delicious.%20I%20will%20just%20try%20to%20forget%20how%20much%20butter%20they%20contain%E2%80%A6..:s%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EP.S.%20The%20picture%20totally%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20do%20them%20justice!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELastly,%20I%20have%20a%20picture%20of%20the%20Vanilla%20Poached%20Pear%20Frangipane%20Tart%20that%20we%20made.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
