Ingredientes
- Vinho Verde Pound Cake
- Closely adapted from Southern Living
- For the cake:
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/3 cup Vinho Verde
- 1 cup (2 sticks, 8 oz) butter, softened
- zest of 1 lemon
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 3 cups (378 g) AP flour
- 1/2 t baking powder
- 1/2 t baking soda
- 1/4 t salt
- 1 t vanilla extract
- For the glaze:
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 T Vinho Verde
- 1 T milk

%20of%20this%20little%20scene%20in%20my%20back%20doorway.%20And%20the%20whole%20time%20I%20was%20snapping,%20I%20could%20hear%20my%20dad%E2%80%99s%20voice%20in%20my%20head,%20reading%20to%20my%20children:%20%E2%80%9CCome%20into%20my%20parlor,%20said%20the%20spider%20to%20the%20fly%E2%80%A6%E2%80%9D%20(in%20a%20sinister%20voice,%20of%20course).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFirst%20I%20watched%20him%20wrap%20his%20helpless%20victim%20up.%20The%20victim%E2%80%93what%20kind%20of%20insect%20I%20am%20not%20sure%E2%80%93was%20already%20partially%20wrapped%20but%20still%20alive%20when%20I%20found%20him%20hanging%20in%20my%20doorway.%20%20Then%20the%20spider%20went%20off%20to%20do%20something%E2%80%93maybe%20make%20sure%20I%20was%20not%20a%20threat%E2%80%93and%20this%20shot%20was%20taken%20on%20his%20way%20back%20to%20his%20meal.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESuccess!%20Dinner!%20Hopefully%20you%20guys%20haven%E2%80%99t%20lost%20your%20appetites%E2%80%93I%20apologize%20to%20the%20arachnophobes%E2%80%93but%20I%20just%20found%20this%20SO%20cool.%20The%20spider%20and%20his%20(her?)%20prey%20were%20large%20enough%20that%20I%20could%20see%20the%20action%20unfold%20clearly%20before%20my%20eyes.%20And%20for%20those%20of%20you%20thinking%20%E2%80%9CIck!%E2%80%9D%20just%20think%20of%20all%20the%20insects%20that%20never%20make%20it%20across%20my%20threshold%20at%20night%20thanks%20to%20this%20guy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99m%20not%20sure%20there%20is%20a%20graceful%20way%20to%20transition%20to%20talking%20about%20a%20cake,%20so,%20let%20me%20just%20tell%20you%20about%20this%20cake!%20This%20is%20the%20best%20straight%20up%20pound%20cake%20I%20have%20made%20in%20quite%20some%20time.%20Yes%20it%20is%20a%20pound%20cake%20with%20a%20twist,%20the%20sparkling%20wine,%20but%20it%20is%20a%20subtle%20twist.%20The%20taste%20is%20still%20unmistakably%20pound%20cake.%20As%20opposed%20to,%20for%20example,%20the%20Lime%20Basil%20Bundt%20Cake,%20which%20tastes%20like%20a%20citrus%20bundt%20or%20pound%20cake,%20not%20plain%20pound%20cake.%20Did%20that%20make%20sense?%20Just%20make%20the%20cake%E2%80%93you%20won%E2%80%99t%20be%20sorry!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20325%20F.%20Grease%20and%20flour%20a%2012%20cup%20bundt%20pan.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20together%20milk%20and%20wine%20and%20then%20let%20stand%2010%20minutes.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeat%20the%20butter%20and%20lemon%20zest%20at%20medium%20speed%20with%20an%20electric%20stand%20mixer%20until%20creamy.%20Gradually%20add%20the%20sugar,%20beating%20at%20medium%20speed%20until%20light%20and%20fluffy.%20Add%20eggs,%201%20at%20a%20time,%20beating%20just%20until%20blended%20after%20each%20addition.%20Beat%20in%20the%20vanilla.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20together%20the%20flour,%20baking%20powder,%20baking%20soda,%20and%20salt.%20Add%20to%20butter%20mixture%20alternately%20with%20milk%20mixture,%20beginning%20and%20ending%20with%20flour%20mixture,%20in%203%20and%202%20additions.%20Mix%20at%20low%20speed%20just%20until%20blended%20after%20each%20addition;%20do%20not%20overmix.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%2065-70%20minutes,%20or%20until%20a%20cake%20tester%20inserted%20in%20the%20center%20comes%20out%20clean.%20Cool%20in%20pan%20on%20a%20wire%20rack%2010%20to%2015%20minutes;%20then%20invert%20cake%20onto%20a%20wire%20rack.%20Place%20foil%20underneath%20the%20rack%20to%20catch%20the%20glaze.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20the%20glaze%20by%20whisking%20together%20the%20glaze%20ingredients.%20Let%20the%20cake%20cool%20for%2020%20minutes,%20until%20it%20is%20no%20longer%20hot%20but%20still%20warm.%20Brush%20or%20drizzle%20the%20glaze%20over%20the%20top%20and%20sides%20of%20cake.%20Cool%20completely%20before%20slicing.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
