So, this past Thursday was Improv reveal day. I missed it. That's not to say I didn't participate--I just waited too long to post. Sigh. I will still give a nod to Kristen at Frugal Antics of a Harried Homemaker for hosting this once-a-month event. Each month Kristen gives us two ingredients to combine into fun recipes. This month? Sausage and Cheese!
Why did it take me so long this month? Um, maybe because I was having such a hard time working that sausage and cheese into a cinnamon roll? That's probably it...I'm not used to posting non-baked goods. :)

%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20to%20think%20about%20this%20theme.%20First,%20the%20husband%20and%20I%20have%20been%20overdoing%20the%20processed%20meats%20lately%20(you%20know%20the%20story...diabetes,%20cholesterol,%20high%20blood%20pressure...we%20have%20it%20all%20here).%20Then,%20I%20found%20some%20organic%20chicken%20and%20apple%20breakfast%20sausage....certainly%20that%20can't%20be%20bad%20for%20us,%20right?%20I%20wrapped%20a%20couple%20up%20in%20some%20scrambled%20eggs,%20melted%20a%20bit%20of%20cheese%20on%20top,%20stuffed%20it%20into%20half%20of%20a%20warm%20baguette%20and%20had%20myself%20a%20portable%20breakfast%20sandwich.%20Super%20good,%20but%20not%20very%20creative.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20baguettes%20reminded%20me%20of%20Paris%20and%20a%20special%20%22hot%20dog%22%20I%20enjoyed%20from%20a%20street%20food%20vendor%20when%20I%20was%20there%20many%20years%20ago.%20This%20was%20no%20ordinary%20dog...it%20was%20a%20hot%20dog%20smothered%20in%20hot%20mustard%20and%20stuffed%20into%20a%20fresh%20baguette.%20I%20had%20to%20make%20one.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENote%20the%20Orangina%20in%20the%20background...it%20wouldn't%20have%20been%20the%20same%20without%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20these%20beauties%20I%20used%20a%20chicken%20and%20apple%20sausage%20that%20I%20found%20at%20Trader%20Joe's,%20a%20warm%20%22take%20and%20bake%22%20baguette%20that%20was%20sliced%20in%20half%20and%20hollowed%20out,%20a%20bit%20of%20shredded%20cheddar,%20and%20some%20Dijon%20mustard.%20Oh%20yes,%20I%20had%20to%20buy%20a%20bottle%20of%20Orangina%20(which%20didn't%20taste%20like%20I%20remembered...probably%20because%20they%20use%20high%20fructose%20corn%20syrup%20in%20it%20over%20here).%20Hubby%20and%20I%20both%20loved%20these,%20but%20I%20still%20felt%20it%20lacked%20in%20the%20creative%20department.%20I%20brought%20out%20my%20skillet....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThings%20started%20getting%20a%20little%20fuzzy,%20recipe-wise,%20at%20this%20point.%20A%20little%20olive%20oil%20went%20in%20first%20and%20then%20some%20chopped%20onion%20and%20sliced%20sausage.%20Later,%20I%20added%20some%20sliced%20fresh%20tomatoes,%20Italian%20seasonings%20and%20red%20pepper%20flakes.%20It%20needed%20some%20color,%20so%20I%20thought%20I%20pulled%20out%20some%20frozen%20spinach...it%20turned%20out%20to%20be%20broccoli...%20but%20it%20turned%20out%20okay.%20Then,%20I%20boiled%20up%20some%20whole%20wheat%20penne%20and%20topped%20it%20all%20off%20with%20some%20Parmesan%20cheese.%20Whew.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20was%20even%20better%20the%20next%20day...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20I%20had%20a%20whole%20day%20of%20sausage%20and%20cheese%20and%20no%20real%20recipe%20to%20show%20for%20it.%20I%20can%20think%20of%20worse%20things.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20would%20you%20make%20with%20Sausage%20and%20Cheese?%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
