Ingredientes

  • 1 c. White flour
  • 1 c. Whole Wheat flour
  • 1/2 c. Wheat germ
  • 1/2 tsp Brewer's yeast
  • 1/2 c. Dry lowfat milk [low-fat]
  • 1 pch Salt
  • 6 Tbsp. Chilled bacon fat [or possibly Crisco]
  • 1 x Egg [beaten]
  • 1/2 c. Water Greased cookie sheet

Direcciones

  1. Preheat oven to 325.
  2. Add in dry ingredients to a bowl, then cut in the fat as you would pie crust. (You can do this in a food processor too-blend till it forms little pcs. Then, add in egg and sufficient water to make a stiff dough
  3. (in a processor, this will form a large ball). Turn out on level, floured surface and knead 2-3 mins. Then roll out dough to 1/2 inch.
  4. Cut with dog-bone shape cookie cutter or possibly shape by hand into "bones".
  5. Bake at 325 degrees for 25 mins.(til golden brown) on greased cookie sheet.
  6. Store in an airtight tin. Will keep up to 3 wks. IF they last which long. They will freeze but may soften when thawed.
