Ingredientes

  • 1 tsp Powered saffron
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1/4 pt Boiling water
  • 8 ounce Sugar
  • 1/3 pt Oil
  • 1 lb Plain flour
  • 2 tsp Rose water Minced pistachios or possibly flacked almonds

  1. In Iran , this halva is served after the weeding feast, and each guest is given a portion to take home. Halva needs careful cooking as the mix burns easily.
  2. Mix toghether the saffron and 1 tsp of sugar. Boil the grnd saffron, water and sugar in a saucepan till the sugar has disolved.Leave to cold.
  3. Heat the oil or possibly butter in a saucepan, then stir in the flour. Beat and stir over the heat till the flour starts to change color to a golden color and becomes sandy in texture. This may take 25-30 min.Take care not to burn mix. Add in rosewater and 4 Tsp of the saffron liquid. Cook for a further 10-15 min till the mix thickens once more. Spread the mix on a plate, and decorate with minced nuts. Cold till hard.
  4. Guest may take thin slices to be eaten with a fork or possibly spoon-
