,%20cilantro,%20chives,%20dill,%20lavender%20and%20sage.%20Oh....and%20basil!%20Sooo....for%20the%20first%20time%20in%20my%20life,%20I%20get%20to%20make%20pesto%20from%20my%20own%20homegrown%20basil.%20I%20like%20that.%20I%20like%20the%20idea%20of%20making%20stuff%20from%20scratch....with%20my%20own%20hands.%20Like%20they%20did%20in%20the%20old%20days%20(when%20I%20was%20a%20kid,%20I%20wanted%20to%20live%20like%20The%20Little%20House%20on%20the%20Prairie).%20%20I%20even%20take%20this%20%22thrill%22%20to%20other%20areas%20of%20my%20life.....other%20hobbies.%20When%20I%20use%20to%20tole%20paint...I%20got%20a%20scroll%20saw%20and%20cut%20my%20own%20wood%20pieces.%20When%20I%20crocheted,%20I%20had%20this%20wild%20idea%20of%20having%20my%20own%20sheep%20and%20finding%20a%20spinning%20wheel%20so%20I%20could%20spin%20my%20own%20yarn%20(that%20idea%20never%20came%20to%20fruition...sheep%20smell).%20When%20I%20had%20pet%20birds,%20I%20decided%20I%20wanted%20to%20see%20baby%20birds%20and%20bred%20them%20(I%20once%20had%2080%20birds%20until%20my%20dogs%20worked%20the%20aviary%20cage%20door%20open%20and%20released%20them%20all%20into%20the%20wild.....Fly,%20Be%20FREE!%20That%20was%20a%20costly%20mishap).%20If%20I%20could%20have%20chickens,%20I%20would.%20If%20I%20had%20a%20larger%20backyard,%20I'd%20have%20fruit%20trees%20everywhere.%20You%20get%20the%20idea...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20midst%20of%20soaking%20my%20basil%20leaves%20and%20making%20sure%20they%20were%20all%20clean....%20Btw....basil%20from%20the%20garden%20requires%20a%20bit%20more%20attention%20than%20the%20store%20bought%20stuff.%20I%20mean....you're%20bound%20to%20come%20across%20at%20least%20one%20free-loader%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20proof%20that%20there%20are%20wild%20things%20living%20in%20the%20backyards%20of%20city%20homes.%20But,%20I'm%20sorry%20to%20say....this%20was%20his%20last%20appearance.%20I'm%20not%20the%20kind%20of%20person%20who's%20going%20to%20re-release%20him%20into%20the%20wild.%20I'm%20sure%20there%20are%20enough%20of%20them%20out%20there%20already.%20When%20they're%20outside,%20I%20leave%20them%20alone%20(unless%20its%20a%20black%20widow).....when%20they're%20in%20the%20house%20(even%20if%20I%20inadvertently%20brought%20one%20in)%20their%20number's%20up.%20Funny%20how%20I%20assumed%20it's%20a%20%22he%22.%20Hmmmm....best%20leave%20that%20one%20alone.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESooo....I%20had%20a%20few%20extra,%20clean,%20basil%20leaves%20and%20decided%20that%20I%20wanted%20them%20in%20a%20biscuit.%20Since%20I%20had%20pesto%20on%20the%20brain,%20I%20went%20ahead%20and%20added%20pine%20nuts%20and%20Parmesan%20cheese%20as%20well.%20Thinking%20back....I%20should've%20added%20garlic.%20I%20wonder%20why%20I%20didn't%20think%20of%20that%20then?%20I%20mean...that's%20a%20no%20brainer.%20Garlic%20goes%20in%20everything!%20Hmmm....maybe%20spidey%20threw%20my%20game%20off.%20It%20certainly%20couldn't%20have%20been%20the%20cocktail%20I%20was%20experimenting%20with.%20(If%20you%20want%20to%20see%20how%20that%20turned%20out....visit%20Cocktail%20Puppy%20and%20check%20out%20my%20Seven%20More%20Sins.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell,%20here's%20my%20garlicless%20recipe....if%20you%20like%20garlic,%20I%20recommend%20adding%20some...according%20to%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPesto%20Biscuits%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20425'.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChop%20up%20the%20pine%20nuts.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20sized%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20flour,%20baking%20soda,%20salt,%20pine%20nuts%20and%20basil%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDoesn't%20that%20look%20so%20fresh%20and%20tasty?%20And%20it's%20not%20even%20made%20into%20anything%20yet!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20a%20pastry%20blender,%20fork%20or%20fingers....work%20the%20cold%20butter%20into%20the%20flour%20mixture%20until%20you%20have%20small%20pea%20sized%20pieces.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20cheese...stir%20with%20a%20wooden%20spoon.%20Add%20the%20milk%20and%20sour%20cream%20and%20mix%20until%20just%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDust%20your%20work%20surface%20with%20a%20bit%20of%20flour.%20Turn%20out%20the%20dough%20and%20knead%203%20-%205%20times%20just%20to%20get%20the%20stuff%20to%20come%20together.%20(hint:%20over%20kneaded%20biscuits%20=%20tough%20biscuits,%20ie:%20paper%20weights).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoll%20out%20the%20dough%20to%201/2%22%20thick.%20Cut%20the%20biscuits%20with%20a%202%22%20round%20cutter.%20Place%20on%20an%20ungreased%20cookie%20sheet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20until%20golden%20brown%20for%20about%2012%20-%2015%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20result?%20A%20tasty%20little%20morsel%20that's%20mildly%20flavored%20and%20the%20perfect%20side%20for%20most%20any%20dish.%20I%20guess%20that%20means%20that%20biscuits%20aren't%20just%20for%20breakfast.%20These%20babies%20are%20for%20dinner!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
