Chef Carmem has been learning and training in the food industry since childhood. While her younger sister Gloria played with dolls, Carmem always played "house" with toy kitchen equipment and accessories, set a small table and pretended to serve the dolls full course meals and beverages.
Today, after co-owning a restaurant together with Gloria in Brasil for 6 years, Chef Carmem is realizing her life-long dream here in the United States!
Chef Carmem specializes in Brazilian cuisine, and also prepares other plates from different countries. Pizza to rave about, Quiche to drool over, and Traditional Apple Strudel you can write home about, just to give you a few ideas...
Chef Carmem likes a challenge, too...She can look in your refridgerator and put something delicious together in no time--she's amazing!
Influencias de Cocina
My greatest cooking influence has always been my mom, Maria do Carmo.
I have the same name as her, but I have been called Carmem since childhood to eliminate confusion, so call me Carmem!
She lives in Bahia, Brazil with my dad, Justino and my brothers, Joao and Manoel.
My whole family loves to cook, even my children!
We love to get together and have a big family feast.
Sometimes we go to my house in Ubatuba and cook on the outdoor wood stove, (fogao a lenha). We hang out on the huge veranda overlooking all the fresh fruits herbs and vegetables.
Ubatuba has 73 wonderful beaches!
