Acerca de mí
Hi! My name is Clarisa. I am happily married with two grown children and a grandson. My husband and I are now raising my great-niece. I had gastric bypass surgery in September 2009 and am learning to deal with foods in a more healthy and moderate manner.
In my family, I am the unofficial baker of cheesecakes and pumpkin pies (although my daughter is trying to take my title with the pumpkin pies)...especially around the holidays. My favorite holiday gift to bake is home-made biscotti. My Mom gets upset if I forget to fill her biscotti jar!
Influencias de Cocina
I don't know if you would call it a cooking influence...or an eating influence...but I come from a large family of good cooks. My Mom's family had 14 children. My Dad's family had 7 children. All of our family gatherings on both sides always seem to be centered around food/meals. Many years ago we even published a cookbook of our family's favorite recipes. So my main influences are the down-home cooks in my own family. Nothing fancy...just good filling country comfort food!
I also love Asian food, especially Japanese. The night we were married, my husband took me to the Royal Tokyo restaurant in Dallas, TX (sadly this restaurant closed it's doors several years ago and I haven't found another that matches up). It was my first experience with sushi and Hibachi. More than 20 years later, I still haven't lost my fascination with watching a good Hibachi chef at work!
