I love to cook. My entire life everyone flocked to my house for home cooked food. I began cooking at age 11 when my stepfather passed away and my mother began to work. I had 2 younger siblings to watch and feed. I still remember some of those first attempts. No one had ever told me what confectioners sugar was, so when I saw it in a recipe I just thought it was a fancy name for sugar like C&H. There were many gooey, grainy globs of failed fudge in the freezer that never hardened. And then there were the cookies, 3 doz you say, nah I would get 6 cookies that looked like mountains. But I did prevail. I did my first thanksgiving dinner at age 14. When I left home and married after high school, a lot of friends (mainly guys) would come to eat at my house as I detest instant food. I was always baking bread. That was during my hippie days in the early 70's. I still love to feed people though. I must admit I do love the ease of using my bread machine for the initial kneading and then finishing it myself. I catered for about 3yrs, loved it but was to much with 2 children and being single. I have created a few dishes that I can call my own creations. I'm always being begged to bring my homemade salso to gatherings, and actually have a few who pout if I don't. I have finally perfected my blueberry pie and hope to enter it in our state fair this year. I'll post the recipe once I do. Hoping for that blue ribbon.
Haven't found to many foods I don't like other than rutabaga's and parsnips. My mother made this awful stew thing. yuk. Standard joke with my family is that I will eat anything that doesn't bite me first. My big love is greek food. Laways lookign for new and wonderful foods to try. I hope to provide some of my recipes that many will hopefully enjoy, some have been in my family for generations.
As Julia Childs said "Bon Apetit"!
