Receta Banana Empanadas (From Ninfas)

Ingredientes
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 3/4 c. hot water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 x egg yolk, optional
Direcciones
- Measure flour & sugar into bowl, stir to mix. Add in shortening a cut into flour. Dissolve salt in water and fold in egg yolk if using. Add in to flour mix to create a medium stiff dough. Knead 4-5 min into a smooth ball. Divide into 8-10 equal parts. Roll into balls, cover w/plastic wrap and let rest 20-30 min.
- Roll each ball into a flat, round tortilla shape. Place on warm pan, cook briefly on one side. On the center of the cooked side, place filling (below). With pastry brush, brush egg white around the edges and fold it over to create 1/2 moon, press edges w/fork. Cook in oil (350 degrees) for 2 min, turn as necessary till browned. Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon. Garnish as desired.

- GARNISHES: powdered sugar, cinnamon, banana slices, raisins, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce
