- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup powdered (icing) sugar

.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EButter%20and%20flour%20a%2010%E2%80%B3%20tube%20pan%20(the%20second%20time%20I%20lined%20the%20bottom%20with%20parchment%20paper).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20flour,%20cinnamon,%20nutmeg,%20soda%20and%20salt%20in%20a%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECream%20oil,%20sugars,%20and%20eggs%20using%20a%20mixer%20on%20medium%20speed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReduce%20speed%20to%20low%20and%20slowly%20add%20dry%20ingredients.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20in%20apples,%20walnuts%20and%20vanilla.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpoon%20into%20prepared%20pan%20and%20bake%20for%201%201/2%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20oven%20and%20let%20rest%20for%20at%20least%2015%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20center%20(tube%20and%20bottom)%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%20completely%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20a%20thin%20knife,%20carefully%20loosen%20the%20cake%20from%20around%20the%20tube,%20then,%20to%20make%20sure%20it%E2%80%99s%20free,%20turn%20the%20cake%20slightly.%20When%20it%E2%80%99s%20loose,%20carefully%20lift%20the%20cake%20off%20the%20base%20and%20put%20on%20a%20platter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBrown%20Sugar%20Frosting:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20brown%20sugar,%20butter%20and%20cream%20in%20a%20saucepan%20until%20sugar%20is%20dissolved.%20Allow%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20powdered%20sugar%20and%20stir%20well%20to%20combine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrizzle%20over%20cake.%20Sprinkle%20walnuts%20on%20top%20and%20allow%20glaze%20to%20set%20before%20slicing,%20at%20least%2020%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20think%20I%20said%20that%20I%20needed%20instructions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOf%20course,%20I%20also%20needed%20to%20follow%20the%20instructions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20hour%20and%20a%20half%20seemed%20like%20a%20rather%20long%20time%20to%20bake%20a%20cake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20a%20convection%20oven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E165C%20is%20slightly%20hotter%20than%20325F.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EConsidering%20all%20of%20the%20above%20I%20decided%20to%20do%20the%20toothpick%20test%20after%20an%20hour%20and%20fifteen%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20came%20out%20clean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20did%20it%20again%E2%80%A6.%20Still%20good.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20took%20the%20cake%20out.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20let%20it%20cool%20according%20to%20the%20original%20instructions:%2015%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20I%20lifted%20the%20tube%20with%20the%20cake%20on%20the%20base%20and%20tipped%20it%20slightly%20in%20preparation%20of%20taking%20it%20off%20the%20center%20tube.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20happened:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20fell%20out%20of%20the%20pan%20in%20chunks,%20over%20my%20hand%20and%20onto%20the%20counter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20done.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20toothpick%20test%20failed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20center%20of%20the%20cake%20stuck%20to%20the%20tube.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20could%20have%20just%20put%20chunks%20of%20it%20in%20parfait%20glasses,%20added%20ice%20cream%20and%20served%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EActually,%20mon%20mari%20and%20I%20ate%20some%20of%20it%20just%20like%20that%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20it%20was%20good.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20pride,%20and%20the%20fact%20that%20I%20had%20enough%20apples%20left,%20forced%20me%20to%20give%20it%20another%20try.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBesides,%20how%20could%20I%20post%20the%20recipe%20if%20all%20I%20had%20to%20show%20for%20it%20was%20a%20pile%20of%20half-baked%20cake?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20what%20the%20second%20cake%20looked%20like.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20served%20it%20with%20Salted%20Caramel%20Ice%20Cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20good%E2%80%A6..%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEveryone%20had%20seconds.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEveryone%20volunteered%20to%20take%20some%20home%20with%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20really,%20really%20good.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELast%20update%20on%20August%2016,%202015%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERelated%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
