love the limas..never get them very often. looks like a great recipe!

%20water%20and%20the%20vinegar%20in%20a%20large%20container.%20A%20good%20rule%20of%20thumb%20is%20to%20add%20at%20least%20twice%20the%20amount%20of%20water%20as%20beans.%20Keep%20beans%20well%20covered%20with%20water.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20stockpot,%20add%20the%20remaining%20ingredients.%20Bring%20to%20a%20rapid%20boil,%20reduce%20heat%20to%20medium%20low%20and%20simmer%20for%20an%20hour.%20Remove%20ham%20or%20meat%20to%20incorporate%20it%20back%20in%20later.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20like%20to%20let%20the%20stock%20simmer%20another%20few%20hours%20or%20so%20on%20low.%20Strain%20the%20stock%20discarding%20the%20vegetables%20and%20bones.%20Drain%20the%20beans%20and%20add%20to%20the%20stock.%20Bring%20to%20a%20boil%20and%20simmer%20on%20low%20for%201%201/2%20to%202%20hours%20or%20until%20the%20beans%20are%20tender.%20Add%20ham%20back%20into%20the%20stock%20the%20last%20half-hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENote:%20I%20like%20to%20let%20the%20beans%20simmer%20on%20low%20until%20they%20are%20almost%20broken%20down%20which%20produces%20a%20creamy%20vegetable%20dish.%20Good%20by%20itself%20as%20a%20chowder%20type%20meal%20or%20as%20a%20soup%20with%20added%20chicken%20stock.%20Some%20folks%20add%20a%20stick%20of%20butter%20to%20make%20it%20richer%20and%20creamy%20while%20others%20add%20heavy%20cream.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
