  • 1 lb cleaned calamari (squid)
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
  • 1 c. vegetable oil Marinara sauce warmed (optional)

  1. Cut the tube-like calamari bodies into 1/2-inch rings, leaving the tentacles intact.
  2. In a large resealable plastic storage bag, combine the flour, salt, and pepper. Add in the calamari in small batches and toss till completely coated.
  3. In a large deep skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat till warm but not smoking. Fry the calamari in small batches for 4 to 6 min, or possibly till golden. Drain on paper towels and serve immediately as is or possibly with your favorite marinara sauce for dipping.
  4. Comments: The easiest way to do this is to buy calamari which's already cleaned so which you're ready to go when you get it home!
