Make these in the slow cooker, or stovetop, and bake some cornbread. Yum!

Usually, I make pintos with tomato sauce, but chile sauce adds a nice zip.

  • 1 lb. dry pintos, soaked overnight in water.
  • 1 1/2 qts. chicken broth (I use Orrington Farms Chicken Base Broth added to water, which is cheap.)
  • 3 slices meaty bacon, cooked, chopped
  • 1 small onion sautéed in bacon grease
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup Heinz Chili Sauce or homemade
  • 1 tsp. chile powder
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • Tabasco to taste

Direcciones

  1. Place pre-soaked beans in a crockpot with the other ingredients. Cook on high for 1 hour, turn to low and cook another 6-8 hours.
  2. Pre-soaked beans cook in about an hour on the stove-top.
