  1. 1. Mix flour, salt and baking pwdr. Sift.
  2. 2. Cut in shortening with 2 knives till the consistency of coarse cornmeal.
  3. 3. Stir in the lowfat milk, a little at a time, to make a soft dough.
  4. 4. Add in nuts and dates.
  5. 5. Turn out onto slightly floured board and knead for 1/2 minutes.
  6. 6. Roll to 1/2" thickness.
  7. 7. Cut in 2" rounds with floured cutter.
  8. 8. Place on an ungreased sheet.
  9. 9. Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
