- 1 cup white sugar

- a few drops yellow food coloring (optional)
- zest of 1/2 a lemon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Lemon Simple Syrup Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Whipped Cream Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 5 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
