Receta german pea soup
Ingredientes
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion minced
- 1\2 cup bean bacon
- 1 leak, white and pale green part only, cut in half lenghwise and sliced into half moons
- 1 medium carrot diced
- 1\2 small celery root, diced
- 1 tbsp fresh marjoram minced
- salt
- 1 1\2 cups dried split green or yellow peas
- 5-6 cups broth
- 3 medium yukon gold potatoes, peeled and diced
- pepper to taste
- leftover coked up ham or any other baked ham about 1 cup
Direcciones
- saute onions in oil in pot, add the bacon. cook over medium heat for about 5 min. add the sliced leek and stir well cook for another 7 min. add the carrot and celery root and stir well. cook for a few minuted, and add the marjoram and salt, stir it up well
- pour the dried peas and the broth into both. cover and bring to a boil then lower the heat to a simmer cook about 20 min
- add the diced potato cook for another 20 min taste for salt and add pepper to taste
- add the ham into the pot, don't let the soup boil once the ham has been added, just warm up the ham with a simmer and serve immediately
