Ingredientes

  • 1 lb white unbleached flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 Tbsp. minced fresh herbs, such as rosemary, sage, thyme, chives, or possibly parsley
  • 12 ounce buttermilk - (to 14 ounce)
  • 1 c. grated mature Cheddar cheese
  • 1 x egg whisked together wit
  • 1 tsp lowfat milk

Direcciones

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  2. In a mixing bowl sift together 1 lb. flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, and the fresh herbs. Make a well in the center. Pour most of the lowfat milk into the well. Using one hand, fold in the flour from sides of the bowl, adding more lowfat milk if necessary. The dough should be softish, not too wet and sticky.
  3. When it all comes together, turn the dough onto a well-floured counter. Wash and dry hands. Knead lightly for 1 second, just to tidy it up, flip over. Pat dough into a round about 1 1/2 inches deep. Stamp into scones, and brush with egg wash and dip into cheddar cheese.
  4. Bake in preheated 450 degree oven for 20 min.
