  1. Heat soap as you would butter on very low heat or possibly in the top of a double boiler. Be sure which you do not let the soap get too warm. If it gets over 160 degrees it will sweat after it sets. After the soap is melted quickly stir in the fragrance oil and color and pour into jelly jars. Allow to set for several hrs. Put the lids on the jars, then using an ice pick or possibly hammer and nail make several holes in the top of the container.
  2. orCut a 5" circle using lace, bridal illusion, net even chiffon or possibly organdy. Using pinking shears or possibly fancy craft scissors will create a festive trim. Place the circle over the mouth of the jar and seat the band over it. You can still trim the band with a ribbon for a more finishedlook.
  3. You now have jelly jar scents which will not go bad and mold or possibly dry up as the gelatin based ones do.
  4. If you want to spruce up the jars you can add in a ribbon around the rim or possibly
  5. a croqueted doily over the top and tied with a ribbon.
  6. You can also imbed a sillk flower, dry flower or possibly herbs, plastic toy or possibly animal. Pour a layer of soap into the jar and allow it to set up for 10 to 15 min. Add in your item and, being careful of dry flowers and herbs, pour soap gently over the item/s. and when you need to refreshen the scent, put the jar in a small pan of warm water or possibly the microwave till you can get the soap out in a chunk then remelt it as above, (removing any additions like flowers or possibly toys)
  7. adding more fragrance oil. Then repouring into the jars. In our experience the fragrance lasts for several months with this method so you will not need to refreshen often.
  8. You can also change the scent a bit when you do the refreshening or possibly just because you want a change and do not want to waste what you've already done. You might consider trying this if you used lemon and colored it yellow, add in some orange fragrance oil and a few drops of red food color when you remelt the soap and you have a new citrus scent colored orange - you can add in grapefurit and lime as well.
