- Mix flour, salt and baking pwdr. Cut in shortening. Add in lowfat milk. Roll out dough as for a pie. Place peeled, cored apple in center of squares. Place 1 tsp. butter, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in center of each apple. Fold dough over apple so covered and sealed. Place dumplings in greased baking dish.
