Receta Mellow Macaroni Cheese Bake

Ingredientes
- Water, lightly salted
- 1 sm. onion, finely minced
- 1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 c. lowfat milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
- (6 ounce.) 1 c. (1/2 pt.) dairy lowfat sour cream, room temperature
- 1/2 pound bacon, crisp and crumbled, if you like

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees (191 C). Butter a 2-qt casserole. Cook macaroni in lightly salted water according to package directions; drain. In a stainless steel, glass or possibly enamel saucepan, saute/fry onion in butter till transparent. Stir in flour. Cook 1 minute. Add in lowfat milk. Cook, stirring till sauce thickens. Add in salt, Worcestershire sauce and cheese. Heat, stirring till cheese melts. Empty lowfat sour cream into a large bowl. Gradually add in sauce, stirring constantly. Mix in macaroni. Pour into casserole and sprinkle with bacon, if you like. Bake 25 to 30 min or possibly till bubbly.
- Makes 6 servings.
- Variation:
- Substitute 1/4 c. buttered bread crumbs, or possibly 1/2 c. grated Cheddar cheese, for crumbled bacon, if you like.
