  1. Pour warm lowfat milk and water over shortening, sugar, salt, stir occasionally till shortening melts. Mix together the flour and yeast. Add in warm liquid mix. Stir in oatmeal. Add in flour to make soft dough. Knead on lightly floured surface till smooth and satiny, about 10 min. Form dough into ball; place in greased bowl, brush with melted shortening. Cover, let rise till double. Punch dough down. Let rest 10 min. Shape into rolls, place on baking sheet. Brush with melted shortening; cover, rise till double. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 min. Remove from pans immediately. 3 dozen rolls.
