Receta Tempeh Sandwich (Mock BLT)
Tempeh is a unique meat replacement – made from soy beans, a single serving has 12 grams of protein. Tempeh can be purchased in the organic section of the grocery store or at your local health-food store. The brand I used for this sandwich is Turtle Island Foods, Inc - a smoky maple bacon flavor. Tempeh can be made at home although I have never tried it – maybe my next venture. TLT as I like to call as it is made like your typical BLT, however there are no rules so anything goes. This mock BLT is totally vegan – no animal products and cholesterol free. The mayo used is also cholesterol free called Vegenaise – made with grapeseed oil and no eggs. I am watching my cholesterol.
Ingredientes
- olive oil
- 4-5 slices Tempeh per serving
- lettuce
- tomato (from my garden)
- vegenaise
- 5 grain bread
Direcciones
- Heat the oil and when hot add the tempeh, fry for 2 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Put Vegenaise on each side of the bread, top with tempeh, lettuce and tomato.
- The tomatoes are fresh from my garden.
- Surprisingly this is a very tasty alternate to the BLT, even my husband liked it, another surprise.
