Receta Tomato Pie
This is a very delicious side dish or main course with a nice side salad and a delicious loaf of bread.

Ingredientes
- For the Crust:
- 1 ¼ cups flour
- ½ cup shortening
- 3-4 tablespoons cold milk
- Dashes of dried oregano
- Dashes of black pepper
- Dashes of garlic powder
- ¼ tsp. salt
- For the Filling:
- 2 large tomatoes - sliced
- 4 cloves garlic â chopped
- Healthy handful of parsley â chopped
- 1 red onion - sliced thin
- 8 oz. mozzarella cheese - shredded
- Grated Romano cheese
- Olive oil for drizzling
- Dashes of dried oregano
- Dashes of garlic powder
- Dashes of black pepper
Direcciones
- For the Crust:
- In a large bowl combine the flour and all of the seasonings. Cut in the shortening until it is crumbly. Add the milk a little at a time and while forming the dough into a ball.
- On a floured surface, roll the dough out to fit a 9 ½ inch pie plate.
- Preheat Oven 350 degrees:
- Bake the crust for 10-12 minutes before filling.
- For the Filling:
- Layer the pie starting with the tomato, then onion, garlic and parsley and grated Romano cheese and mozzarella. Repeat this process finishing with the grated Romano and mozzarella cheeses.
- Top off with the seasonings and a drizzle of olive oil.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
