Influencias de Cocina
My Maw-maw who lived in Cajun country influenced me as she was of Cajun decent and was married to a full blooded Italian. She was known for her cooking. Her food was always perfect. She never burned or undercooked anything. Her food was always seasoned perfect. It was always the right temperature. People would bring her turtles for her to make turtle soup. They would also bring her chicken to make chicken salad. She was know for her delicious cakes too! She cooked Cajun, Creole, Italian, American and southern foods. I also had a German grandmother and I learned to eat some German style foods but she also cooked southern and American style foods too. She grew up on a vegetable farm so she also cooked a lot of vegetables. She grew up on the Gulf coast so she cooked seafood too. My mom was also known for her cooking. She was known for her Cajun cornbread dressing, Shrimp Creole, Italian potato salad and fried chicken. Her sister, my Aunt, is known for her cooking also. She taught me how to cook hamburger steak with onion gravy and Creole tomato sauce picante. I started cooking in the 7th grade when I took home economics. I am also known for my cooking. I cook like all of the above but I also cook international foods such as Greek beef and onion stew and Hungarian Chicken Paprika. I make killer Mexican Chili Rellenos! I am known for my tender garlic roast. I wanted to be a chef but never went to culinary college. I love to grow herbs and native plants.
