- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups strained applesauce
- 3-1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- For the icing
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-1/2 cups powdered sugar

%20%20The%20cookie%20I%20knew%20would%20be%20a%20soft%20one%20which%20was%20a%20plus%20in%20Grumpy's%20direction%20and%20the%20browned%20butter%20icing%20was%20the%20deciding%20factor.%20%20These%20cookies%20were%20going%20to%20be%20my%20post!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20changed%20things%20up%20just%20slightly%20and%20left%20out%20the%20raisins.%20%20While%20I%20do%20like%20raisins,%20I%20didn't%20feel%20like%20raisins%20on%20the%20day%20I%20made%20these.%20%20I%20did%20not%20pack%20the%20brown%20sugars%20and%20I%20also%20used%201%20cup%20of%20light%20and%201%20cup%20of%20dark%20brown%20sugar.%20%20I%20did%20strain%20my%20applesauce,%20I%20just%20poured%20it%20into%20a%20sieve%20with%20small%20holes%20and%20let%20it%20drip%20over%20a%20bowl.%20%20I%20was%20quite%20surprised%20at%20how%20much%20liquid%20actually%20came%20out%20of%20the%20applesauce!%20I%20also%20used%20unsalted%20butter%20rather%20than%20shortening.%20%20I%20don't%20keep%20shortening%20on%20hand%20in%20the%20house%20but%20I%20always%20have%20butter!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20while%20this%20is%20my%20last%20post%20for%20the%20SRC,%20it%20certainly%20is%20not%20my%20last%20time%20visiting%20blogs%20in%20the%20SRC.%20%20It%20is%20just%20time%20for%20me%20to%20move%20on%20to%20different%20venues.%20%20Before%20you%20leave%20today,%20be%20sure%20to%20check%20out%20the%20linky%20below%20and%20see%20what%20else%20everyong%20from%20SRC%20has%20made.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EApplesauce%20Drop%20Cookies%20with%20Browned%20Butter%20Icing%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPublished%2010/06/2014%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInstructions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPre-heat%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20sized%20mixing%20bowl,%20cream%20together%20butter%20and%20sugars.%20Add%20vanilla%20and%20mix%20until%20combined.%20Add%20eggs,%20one%20at%20a%20time,%20mixing%20well%20after%20each%20addition.%20Add%20applesauce%20and%20mix%20until%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20separate%20mixing%20bowl,%20combine%20flour,%20baking%20soda,%20spices,%20and%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20flour%20mixuture%20to%20applesauce%20mixture%20gradually%20stirring%20until%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrop%20dough%20using%20small%20cookie%20scoop%20onto%20parchment%20paper%20lined%20cookie%20sheet.%20Bake%20at%20250%20for%2010-12%20minutes%20or%20until%20cookies%20bounce%20back%20to%20the%20touch%20and%20no%20longer%20look%20wet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20make%20frosting,%20in%20a%20heavy%20bottomed%20saucepan,%20melt%20butter%20over%20medium%20heat.%20Cook%20until%20particles%20start%20to%20turn%20brown.%20Remove%20from%20heat%20and%20add%20vanilla,%20powdered%20sugar%20and%20heavy%20cream.%20Stir%20until%20creamy.%20You%20may%20need%20to%20add%20a%20little%20more%20cream%20as%20you%20go%20along%20as%20this%20frosting%20will%20thicken%20more%20as%20it%20cools.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFrost%20cookies.%20Store%20in%20airtight%20container.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrep%20Time:%2000%20hrs.%2015%20mins.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
