- 10 MEDIUM SIZE (JONATHAN OR OTHER VARIETY) PEELED & CORED.
- Pastry:
- 2 CUPS SHORTENING
- 4 CUPS FLOUR
- 1 TBL. SUGAR
- 1 Tsp. SALT
- 1 Tsp. BAKING POWDER
- 1 EGG BEATEN
- 1/2 CUP WATER
- 3 TBL. LEMON JUICE
- Filling:
- BROWN SUGAR - 1 TBL. PER APPLE
- CINNAMON - 1 PINCH PER APPLE
- BUTTER - 1/4 C. PER APPLE
- Sauce:
- 2 CUPS WATER
- 2 TBL. BUTTER
- 1 Tsp. CINNAMON

- MIX PASTRY INGREDIENTS, CUT WITH FORK UNTIL NO LONGER STICKY.
- DIVIDE DOUGH - 10 BALLS-ROLL EACH BALL INTO CRUST LARGE ENOUGH TO COMPLETELY COVER APPLE IN CENTER.
- PUT IN BROWN SUGAR, CINNAMON, AND BUTTER. WRAP PASTRY AROUND APPLE,PRESS CLOSED AT TOP.PLACE IN
- SHALLOW BAKING PAN...BAKE 350 DEGREES - 25 MINUTES
- COMBINE SAUCE INGREDIENTS and cook GENTLY 3 MINS. OVER medium heat. POUR OVER DUMPLINGS then BAKE 475 DEGREES for 5 TO 7 minutes.
