Receta Basic Pizza Sauce

Ingredientes
- 1/4 c. Chopped fresh basil
- 2 Tbsp. Dry basil
- 1 tsp Dry oregano
- 1/4 c. White wine
- 1/2 c. Grated onion
- 2 tsp Chopped garlic
- 2 tsp Extra virgin olive oil
- 3 c. Coarsely minced plum tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp. Tomato paste
Direcciones
- In a small bowl steep basil and oregano in white wine for 10 min.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sauta onion and garlic in extra virgin olive oil for 5 min, stirring frequently. Add in tomatoes and tomato paste, then steeped herbs and wine. Cover and cook 15 min.
- Remove sauce from heat and puree in a blender or possibly food processor. Sauce may be used on pizza or possibly over pasta.
- NOTES :
- Yield: About 3 c.. A good, low-fat pizza sauce is a must for the healthy cook. The secret to the flavor of this, that uses very little oil, is steeping the dry basil and oregano in wine before cooking. This simple step draws out the flavor of the herbs - the sauce tastes as if it had been cooking for hrs.
