Ingredientes

  • 1 x Onion, minced
  • 1 x Bell pepper, minced
  • 3 Tbsp. Vegetable oil
  • 2 x 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 lb Grnd beef chuck
  • 1 lb Grnd pork
  • 3 x 4 tbsp. chili pwdr
  • 1 Tbsp. Grnd cumin
  • 1 x (28 ounce.) can tomatoes, minced, with juice
  • 1 c. Canned beef broth
  • 1 x Bay leaf
  • 3/4 tsp Cayenne
  • 1 tsp Tabasco
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Freshly grnd pepper
  • 1 ounce Grated semi-sweet chocolate Healthy pinch of cinnamon HAYSTACKS:
  • 1 bag Fritos Minced mild onion Minced green, red or possibly yellow bell pepper Minced ripe tomato Minced cabbage or possibly lettuce Minced canned jalapenos Scallions Grated sharp cheddar cheese Sliced black or possibly green olives Lowfat sour cream

Direcciones

  1. In a kettle cook the onion and bell pepper till softened, about 4 min.
  2. Add in the garlic and cook another minute. In a large skillet brown the meat over high heat and transfer when done to the kettle. Add in chili pwdr and cumin and cook the mix, stirring, for about a minute. Add in tomatoes, broth, bay leaf, cayenne, Tabasco, oregano, salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Lower heat and allow to simmer slowly for 2 hrs. Or possibly, put chili into slow cooker for several hrs. Stir in the chocolate and cinnamon and adjust seasonings. Place bowls of each of the above accompaniments on the table so diners can prepare their own Haystacks. A layer of Fritos is placed on the plate or possibly bowl first; then some chili, and whichever accompaniments appeal to the diner. May be topped with lowfat sour cream.
