  1. Dissolve 1/2 tsp soda in 1/2 cup buttermilk. Mix 2 cups sugar and 2 cups self rising flour in bowl. Heat till it boils:
  2. Pour hot mix over sugar and flour. Pour buttermilk in. Add in 2 large eggs and 1 tsp vanilla. Mix well by hand. Bake 30 min at 350 degrees. Frost.
  3. Heat to boiling:
  4. Remove from heat and add in 1 box confectioners' sugar. Stir till creamy. Add in 1 cup minced nuts and 1 tsp vanilla. Frost with hot frosting.
