Receta Cheesy Apple Pie

Ingredientes
- crust:
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 c. shortening butter flavored
- 1/2 c. cheddar cheese finely shred
- 3 Tbsp. cool water to 4 Tbsp. filling:
- 5 c. peeled apples thinly sliced
- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp grnd cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt cheddar crunch topping:
- 3/4 c. granulated sugar
- 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 c. butter or possibly margarine
- 1 c. cheddar cheese finely shred

- Preheat oven to 375degrees. In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour and salt. Cut in the shortening to the size of small peas. Stir in the cheese. Sprinkle 1 Tbsp. water over part of the mix; toss with a fork. Repeat till all is moistened. Form the dough into a ball. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to create a 12-inch circle. Ease the crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Trim to 1/2 inch beyond the edge of the plate; fold under the pastry. Finish the edge; don't prick the pastry.
- In a bowl, combine the apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Transfer to the crust. For the topping, stir together the sugar, flour and salt. Cut in the butter till the mix is crumble. Gently stir in the cheddar cheese. Sprinkle over the filling. Cover the edge with foil.
- Bake for 25 min. Remove the foil and bake for 20 to 25 min longer, or possibly till the top is golden brown and the fruit is tender. Penny Halsey
