Ingredientes

  • 6 Tbsp. Unsalted butter
  • 6 Tbsp. Packed light brown sugar
  • 1 pch salt
  • 1 c. Flour, plus 2 Tbsp.
  • 1/2 c. Oatmeal, quick or possibly old-fashioned
  • 1 Tbsp. Dry lemon peel
  • 1 can Cherry pie filling, (20 ounce.)

Direcciones

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. 2. In a large heavy saucepan, heat the butter, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from the heat.
  4. 3. Stir in the sugar, salt, flour, oatmeal and lemon peel till a dry crumbly dough forms. Press about two-thirds of the dough (about 1 2/3 c.) into the bottom of a 9-inch square baking pan to make a hard even layer. Top with an even layer of the pie filling. Sprinkle the remaining dough proportionately over the top.
  5. 4. Bake till lightly browned, about 30 min. Remove to a rack and cold for 20 min. Leave the cake in the pan and cut into 16 squares.

  7. Notes: These impressive cake squares are effortless to make. A crumb mix is pressed into a baking pan, topped with a can of cherry-pie filling, and finished with more crumbs. During baking, it all combines into a crunchy, gooey confection.
