This is a recipe from a friend. Have to try it so I can cut back on the sugars, as it is too carb heavy for me. But, I am sure it is as yummy as it is easy. Good for potluck!

  1. Cut apples in wedges.
  2. Mix in sugar.
  3. Put into your crock pot (an oval 5 to 7 quart works best).
  4. Sprinkle with apple pie spice.
  5. In a bowl mix oats, brown sugar, flour cinnamon, and vanilla.
  6. Mix in the butter with your fingers.
  7. Sprinkle over the top.
  8. Turn crockpot on LOW 4 hours, or HIGH 2 hours.
  9. Once the apples are softened, turn off.
  10. The juice thickens somewhat as it cools, so it is good to take to a potluck.

I tried this recipe today and found it quite tasty and the next time I make it, it will be excellent. Unfortunately your directions were incomplete. You say to cut the apples into wedges. You really should say, "Peel and cut apples into wedges." For those of us who are self-described as beginner cooks, we rely on the more experienced cooks who list their recipes to make the directions COMPLETE. The apple peels made the final product less than a-peeling.

Well, it all depends on the apples and your tastes. I do leave the peels on apples for the extra fiber, and prefer it that way. But, some people like it with the peels removed. Also, too much work for me! Recipes are never COMPLETE, as you change when to suit yourself! Thanks for the review, and keep up the good work in the kitchen...all guys should learn how to cook!
